Description
Domestic Energy Assessor - 5 Day Course (DEA)
Course Title: Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment
Awarding Body: ABBE
This five day classroom based course will give you the skills required to assess buildings and produce accurate Energy Performance Certificates for domestic dwellings. These EPC's are required to be produced by law when a property is sold or let. EPC's are also required for some ECO funded installations and any renewable heating installations under the RHI scheme.
April 2020 saw the further implementation of the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) in England & Wales. This makes it illegal for private landlords to rent out any properties which have an EPC rating worse than an E.
During the course candidates will complete five actual EPC surveys using government approved software. This supports the learning experience with invaluable hands on practical experience. As part of the qualification candidates are required to complete a portfolio of course work, this includes sample EPC's and a number of academic assignments. This portfolio will be fully completed during the five day course.
Once qualified students will then be required to join one of the Government approved accreditation schemes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between the DEA 5 Day Course and the DEA Online Courses?
A: The qualification, registration and portfolio requirements are all exactly the same. The difference is that any candidates opting for the attendance course will complete the portfolio requirements whilst in attendance, whereas if you opt for one of our webinar courses, you will complete some courseworks assignments remotely after the webinar has concluded.
Q: Are then any hidden or extra costs?
A: The price you see advertised includes everything you need to achieve the qualification. This includes the ABBE registration fee, all training and course materials, unlimited portfolio attempts and your final Certificate.
Q: What happens after I am qualified?
A: Once qualified you will need to become a member of an approved accreditation body. Most of them are free to join and charge a lodgement fee each time you produce and register an EPC. This cost is approximately £5.00 + VAT per certificate.
Q. Do Energy Trust offer student finance?
A. Yes, we offer finance through a third party provider. Please contact us on 0333 012 0002 if you wish to explore financing one of our qualifications.
