    Course Details

    Description

    Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) Training

    • Duration: 3 Days (Live Online Course via Zoom with a Trainer) + Remote Portfolio Submission
    • Prerequisite: None
    • Certification: Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment (ABBE)
    • Training Format: Live, interactive online sessions led by an experienced trainer followed by remote portfolio submission.

This course will be delivered via Zoom over three consecutive days with a live tutor and interactive case studies with the facility to ask questions in real-time - just as if you were sat in the classroom! This course will give you the skills required to survey buildings and produce accurate Energy Performance Certificates for existing domestic dwellings. EPCs are required to be produced by law when a property is sold or let. EPCs and Energy Performance Reports are also required for certain aspects of various Government grant schemes such as ECO4, SHDF, LADS, HUG etc.

You will learn to conduct comprehensive assessments of domestic properties, examining factors that influence energy efficiency, carbon emissions, and sustainability. Our expert trainers will guide you through data collection, analysis, and reporting, providing you with the skills needed to evaluate and improve a home's energy performance.

Upon completing the three-day training, you will be required to develop a remote portfolio of 5 example EPCs, alongside some other academic assignments; showcasing your ability to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the course.

    Retrofit Assessor Training

    • Duration: Self-Paced (Accessed through our Learning Management System)
    • Prerequisite: Having attended/completed a DEA course with Energy Trust
    • Certification: Retrofit Assessor Certificate (for accreditation with ECMK)
    • Training Format: Self-paced online modules accessible through our Learning Management System.

Building on your Domestic Energy Assessor training, this self-paced course will prepare you to assess domestic properties for retrofit. Retrofit Assessors will undertake a survey of a building incorporating RdSAP data collection, a detailed floor plan, a ventilation assessment, a condition survey and an occupancy assessment. The resulting report can then be lodged in the Trustmark Data Warehouse where Retrofit Coordinators and other stakeholders can access the data to progress retrofit projects. Our course covers everything you need to become an accredited Retrofit Assessor.

To gain access to the Retrofit Assessor Training, you must have attended the three-day DEA training. You can complete your Retrofit Assessor training whilst you complete your DEA remote portfolio however you will not receive your Retrofit Assessor certificate until you have completed, been assessed, and marked as passed for your DEA qualification.

Please note, the Retrofit Assessor element of the course is run in conjunction with ecmk and will only allow accreditation with ecmk once the course is completed. Candidates will be required to use an iPad to access the Retrofit Assessor software with ECMK.

With our Domestic Energy Assessor and Retrofit Assessor Training Package, you'll be prepared to assess, advise, and make a positive impact on residential energy efficiency and sustainability. Join us on this educational journey, and together, we can create greener, more energy-efficient homes for a sustainable future.
