Thousands of families across England are set to benefit from the Warm Homes Plan, as the government allocates new funding to improve energy efficiency in low-income and social housing. Up to 170,000 homes will receive upgrades such as:
- insulation
- double glazing
- solar panels
- heat pumps
This boost will save households hundreds of pounds on energy bills.
£1.8 Billion Boost to Make Homes Warmer and Cheaper to Heat
As part of the government’s Plan for Change, £1.8 billion will be distributed through the Warm Homes: Local Grant and Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund. This funding will support local authorities and social housing providers to improve homes in their communities. All of this investment will finance upgrades over the next three years.
The Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund will deliver £1.29 billion to 144 projects, while the Warm Homes: Local Grant will allocate £500 million to 73 projects across 270 local authorities. Combined, these efforts will make homes warmer, healthier, and more energy efficient.

Supporting Families and Tackling Fuel Poverty
We are currently facing a time when many are struggling with high energy bills. In response to this, the Warm Homes Plan aims to put more money in people’s pockets by reducing heating costs. The funding will target low-income households and social housing tenants, helping to tackle fuel poverty and improve living standards across England.

Driving the UK Towards a Greener Future
The Warm Homes Plan also supports the UK’s Net Zero goals, cutting carbon emissions and creating new green jobs. By focusing on clean heating solutions and better insulation, it helps secure the UK’s energy future and protects families from rising energy prices.
“Decarbonising our homes is a win win for residents, the government and our planet, creating warmer homes, saving residents money and tackling the climate emergency
