My name is Ho Shun, I’m based in London and travelled to Leicester to complete the Domestic Energy Assessor classroom course. I attended the course because I was interested in becoming a Domestic Energy Assessor.
What Drew You To The Domestic Energy Assessor Classroom Course?
I was looking for career opportunities, so I joined this course to see what it’s like in the energy assessment industry. I chose the classroom DEA course specifically because I liked the speed of the process. I thought it was great that I could get qualified within 5 days. The DEA qualification seemed like a great way to break into the industry without the skill barrier being too high.
Also, my previous experience gave me a bit of help. The skills I have in project management will help me to manage my schedule and evidence as a Domestic Energy Assessor.
What Did You Think About The Course?
Everyone here was so friendly and easy to work along with. I have enjoyed the lessons throughout the 5 days – I found them to be very interactive and the tutors to be supportive.
I really liked the way the course was designed. You started with explaining the basics (what an EPC is and what features you need to look out for) then we moved on to the practical tasks and online assignments. The whole thing was very easy to follow. First you build the knowledge, then go into the real world and work through the online assessments.
Did You Find The Site Visits Useful?
The site visits were really great. We started with simpler ones, and then finally worked our way up to a more complicated property. We got to see a house with a special heating system which was a little bit more complicated. I thought that was valuable to prepare us for what we can expect in the real world.
I’m going to use this qualification to work as a Domestic Energy Assessor and kick off my career in the energy industry. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to be an energy assessor.
